read ur phonetics post n sounded like a fool trying it out. v fun. will say english's fucky inconsistent pronounciations is because its not just a germanic language(tho many say it is for simplicity) it draws heavily from latin (romans)(church) celtic (celts) french (normans)(nobility) norse (vikings) and some greek (also romans but recycling greek philosphy). plus colonisation of other countries and subsequent loanwords crawling in from that cultural mixing. worlds biggest empire means a lot of exposure to many languages and stealing the way things are pronounced in that language. fuck yeah linguistics

Thank you so much! Yup - influenza leaves lasting effects on the body, even long after it's "gone", though I can't say I don't admire the little thing for how infectious and destructive it is. Influenza viruses are also an extremely large family, so getting vaccinated can be difficult. A very fascinating albeit annoying little disease!
